Another New Vet!

Adding to the 5 vets already on staff at the Animal Hospital of Waynesville, a new veterinarian will start on Monday, June 10. AHOW is always striving to bring the best care in a Fear Free environment to make the visit of your pet the most comfortable.

Dr. Mallory Smith, graduate of the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from the University of South Florida will join Morgan Plemmons, managing vet and the other doctors.

Here is what she says about herself:

I was born and raised in the greater Tampa Bay area and spent my vacations growing up in the mountains! I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of South Florida and earned my veterinary degree from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine after some post-graduate work at Clemson University. My passion for animal health started while spending a summer rehabilitating injured and sick endangered sea turtles and then working with dogs and cats as a veterinary nurse for a few years. My favorite aspects of veterinary medicine are preventative care, dentistry, internal medicine, and simply nurturing the human-animal bond, but love absolutely everything and love to learn new things! My husband and I moved to the mountains to be closer to family, for the seasons, and the culture. We have two older dogs named Ox and Panda, and one tabby cat…named Cat. I consider myself a little bit of a foodie, love cooking and trying new recipes, and appreciate a good dark chocolate. On the weekends, my husband and I love to spend our time outdoors, soaking up sunshine, whether it be camping, hiking, or eating a good meal on a patio with friends and family.

Join us in welcoming her to our team and the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina.

The Animal Hospital of Waynesville is accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association, a Gold-Level Cat Friendly Practice certified by the American Association of Feline Practitioners, and has just completed the final steps for being certified as a Fear Free practice with many staff members having completed personal certification.
