Radiology

We have invested in state-of-the-art digital radiography in order to provide the best quality in imaging for your pet. Compared to the older, more traditional equipment, digital radiology produces a much higher quality image. The better the equipment and diagnostic capability, the more accurate our veterinarians can be with their diagnosis. Because the images are digitized, they are available within seconds for our veterinarians to see, decreasing the time your pet has to be here for the radiographs. This also means that the radiographs can easily be forwarded to a radiologist or other specialist for evaluation and consultation should the need arise. Last, digital radiology is better for the environment. There are no longer any of the harsh chemicals used to develop the x-rays or the need for film; better for the staff, the pet and the environment.

X-rays, or radiographs, can help our veterinarians to evaluate your pet from head to tail, including musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, pulmonary, gastrointestinal, reproductive, and urinary systems. X-rays can detect bone fractures, heart size, changes and abnormalities, tumors, problems in the GI tract such as a foreign body and urinary problems such as stones or abnormalities. Often radiographs will help us reach a diagnosis by providing information unavailable by other means. Our pets do not have the ability to talk to us and tell us what is going on so diagnostic tools like x-rays help the veterinarian reach an accurate diagnosis. We can also take OFA hip radiographs to send in for certification by the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals.

We will give you a copy of your radiographs via email or disc depending on your preference.
