First time visit, it was truly an emergency & they worked me in within an hours time max. Compassionate & understanding. Flexible when I was unable to make the complete payment that day due to it being an emergency/unscheduled visit. Staff was extremely pleasant & genuinely concerned about the animals.
Really thoughtful and caring providers. The vet was really generous with her time and answered all of my questions. You can tell they truly care about my dogs heath. The facility is really conveniently located in the middle of downtown waynesville and parking was readily available in their parking lot.
My family has had a wonderful experience with the Animal Hospital of Waynesville over the past week. Dr. H spent most of his Saturday caring for our very ill 12 year old cat Wendal, and took every measure to ensure his comfort. We ultimately had to say goodbye on Wednesday, but the entire staff was compassionate and knowledgeable throughout the week and we couldn't have asked for a more eloquent farewell. The molded paw print impression we left with will be cherished. Carmella (resident kitty) was the friend I needed in a very difficult time! Thank you all!
The staff here are highly skilled and knowledgeable. Their first concern is the health and safety of your pet/family. You could not ask for better care from your veterinarian. An identification card will be issued with a photo and all pertinent information, and they make you feel at home while they do it. You dont feel like just another customer in a sterile environment. Two thumbs up go the best veterinary team in western North Carolina!!!!
I cannot tell you how much Animal Hospital of Waynesville means to us. Our beloved fur baby cat recently died, very suddenly and unexpectedly. And they were just amazing here. They gave us a biodegradable bag to bury him in at home along with a clay paw print keepsake at no extra charge. Dr Todd and Tasha are just awesome.
My wife and I have two dogs, and we have been taking them to the Animal Hospital of Waynesville for over two years. We moved around over the years prior to that, and have experience with different vets. The Animal Hospital of Waynesville is the best vet we have found so far. Their vets and techs do a great job of handling our behaviorally challenged dogs. They are affordable and always give us great advice. They make caring for our dogs easy by sending us care reminders when shots are do.
Excellent care from kind, caring, and knowledgeable vets. The clinic is clean and attractive, with supportive and friendly office staff. There is no problem getting an appointment within a reasonable time. As a long time dog owner, exhibitor and breeder, I'm very happy to have found this clinic!
The entire staff at Animal Hospital of Waynesville go out of their way to be warm and compassionate. My dog walks in the door with his tail held high because he know his friends are there. The care he has received has always been highly professional with eveything clearly explained and choices laid out. I have total trust in these folks.
A great big shout out to Dr. Todd....Kruger is like a brand new cat today thanks to her treatment and recommendation! He’s back to his cuddly sweet self and that makes me so happy and relieved! I would, and do tell everyone I know about the excellent level of care that you all provide.
Been sitting in the exam room for over an hour while others are coming and going. If it wasn't for the fact this was the only place open I would of never came and wasted my money. But seeing my dog limping around put me in worry mode. I'm sure I'll get charged every penny too. 1 doctor on staff. Total let down. I should of drove to Asheville
I was very happy to find an appointment for my dog when his regular Vet couldn't get him in. We saw Dr Hammett and she is awesome. Her and her Assistant, Erin, were great with my very nervous dog. I would highly recommend them to anyone searching for a Vet! Their hours are also accommodating, staying open later and on Saturday.
I was on my way home after an already emotional morning when I found a poor little puppy dog that had been allowed to run free on Smathers St in Waynesville, NC. She had been struck by a vehicle and left to lie in the road for further destruction.
She was still warm when I found her and I wasn't sure if she had actually gone over the Rainbow Bridge. Because of the way the little darling was lying, I couldn't really tell if she was a girl or boy. But I will assume she was a girlie because this is a mountain community and she was wearing a pink collar.
Through a floods of tears, I wrapped her in a towel I had in my car an got directions to the nearest veterinarian in Waynesville. Upon my arrival at the Animal Hospital of Waynesville, I found a very caring and concerned staff. Their first response was for THREE VET TECHS and staff members to rush to my car to check the poor puppy for signs of life. Not finding a heartbeat, they took her inside to confirm her passing with a DOCTOR and then to scan her in an effort to find a chip and locate her family.
I don't think anyone could ask for a kinder, more caring facility for the treatment of their animal companions and their own selves, too.
Thank you most sincerely to everyone I dealt with today, November 2, 2017

P.S, If there are grammar, syntax, or spelling errors in this post, please be aware that I am composing it in the Animal Hospital of Waynesville parking lot immediately after this incident as I compose myself to drive home.
I love this vet! They are professionals who take great care of my girl. I love that they have extended hours on certain days of the week and I adore the people who work there. I couldn't ask for a better vet for my girl! I highly recommend this practice if you are in this area and need a vet.
I went camping this past weekend at a KOA in cherokee and our dog had broken through a window with his snout. There was spurting blood everywhere. So we had to rush him to this closest hospital which was the Waynesville Animal Hospital.
My dog is very active and has always had a clean bill of health. Saw the vets regularly and never had any sort of issue with anything.
So, when we got to the hospital I was COVERED in blood from holding the laceration on his nose closed. And there was also a beach towel soaked in it too. Not to mention what the cabin looked like with all of the blood he lost. So the doctor there never gave him a blood transfusion (I took him in on a Saturday close to quitting time). So naturally I wasnt expecting this to happen in the first place and they were charging 894$ for them to put him under and then stitch up his nose. I got the money and I could have gotten more if need be. The vet told me that he could be taken home after his procedure. Which I was ecstatic about because I wanted him in my care. After the procedure (which took an hour longer than they said it would) they told me he was stable and he would be okay. Well, then they had a hard time waking him up (probably because he had no blood left.) at this time the clock was about two hours past when they were supposed to go home. The vet herself seemed to be wanting to get home and a little impatient that my dying dog wouldn't get up out of her beloved floor.
She never ever told me that there was a chance that my dog would die. She told me she thought he would be fine and there was no reason to worry. She even gave me antibiotics and pain relievers. They never actually got him out of the floor because they took him out on a Gernie to my car. After they put him in the car I thanked them profusely for helping him and I was so happy that my baby was gonna get to come home and everything was gonna be fine. Not even two hours later my dog died in the back seat of my car while I was holding him. I had to sit there watching his organs shut down and him fighting so hard to breath. It was the worst experience I have ever encountered. And I would have been a little better if she told me that he could have a chance of dying. My husband later called them the following Monday and asked her what happened and she told him that I made the decision to take him.... well, no she told me I could. Then she said that it was a money issue for me. Which wasn't the truth either. Then she told my husband that it could have been an underlying issue. NOPE that wasn't it either. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOSPITAL. Because it's really not even a hospital at all when it's close to quitting time. And when you need them the most.
We have 5 dogs (and 1 cat) and recently moved to the area. One thing I have noticed with most vet practices is that the vets can be the nicest, best vets ever, but for some reason their front desk people are rude and don't seem to care if they keep your business. At Animal Hospital of Waynesville, that's not the case. Not only are the vets friendly and willing to really listen to the owners, the ladies up front are super nice and welcoming. They were the third practice we used up here and as soon as we walked in the door, we knew we'd found the right one! They are wonderful.
We love Animal Hospital of Waynesville for their thorough and careful treatment and care of our animals. It is obvious that they truly care about the animals that they treat and I highly recommend them to anyone looking for high quality veterinary care for their furry family members.
Take all of my cats there . Most often my diabetic cat . They all have received great care . The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. The vet spends a lot of time with our pets and I feel they truly care about them . I recommend this hospital for anyone.
Our first visit and Jack was given lots of love and treats. Staff very attentive and took a lot of time with us. Jack seemed very happy and took his exam in stride. The peanut butter Kong and liver treats helped but the kind treatment won him over more!
I just can't say enough great things about the staff here... so caring to all my fur kids, and very thorough and knowledgeable during exams and are terrific at explaining things in a way that's easy to understand. I would highly recommend these folks ♡
Our little dog was attacked by our big dog on January 2. Thankfully they were open. We feel sure they saved our little boy's life. Though we were not customers they met us with open arms and immediately started life saving treatment for him. The doctors and staff were very compassionate and caring for him and for us. Because of excessive blood loss, Dr. Bull even brought her dog for a blood transfusion.
Today he is alive and healthy! We are thankful to the entire staff!
Should we become full time Waynesville residents, we would surely have them take care of our brood.
Thanks for all you did for all of us!
They apparently require that all medication be purchased from them. We tried to get a Trifexis refill today and were turned down because they didn't sell us an intervening month's dose. If you travel between multiple homes, in my case sure to settling my mother's estate, or choose to purchase medication through a separate outlet then I do not recommend them at all.
We brought in a kitten that had horrible injuries, who had been found by a neighbor in her driveway. We honestly did not think it would survive the drive here, but they took him in and treated his injuries with care and compassion. We are so pleased to adopt this little kitten, and he has added much joy to our house. Thank you for saving Handsome; you guys rock! We will make you our go-to vet from now on for our other animals.
