Cats are such a wonderful addition to any household and when choosing to add to your furry clan there are some factors to consider. Your lifestyle, the amount of time you have to spend with your furry friend and the environment that they will be entering into are very important.
Kittens are fun, loveable, fluffy, and so curious about the world around them. Kittens love climbing and exploring any object, no matter what the height. They can get into trouble very quickly, so it is important to make sure to keep an eye on your curious kitty and to make sure the environment is as “kitten” proof as possible. Kittens will adapt more quickly to a household with children or multiple pets than an adult cat will. Also, if you have adult cats in the house already, they would more readily accept a kitten versus another adult.
Adult cats can provide a wonderful bond and lots of love too, but they will need different considerations when thinking about bringing them into your home. Adult cats, unlike kittens, are usually set in their temperament and you can tell pretty quickly if they are going to tolerate certain things and what their personalities are. It is good to make sure that they can tolerate whatever environment they will be coming into. If you want a furry companion but will not have a lot of time to spend with them, an adult cat may be ideal because they can tolerate being alone more easily than a kitten. Keep in mind though they still need attention and regular care.
