I went out of town for one night this last weekend. No big deal, right? Well, a little bit because I left my dog at home to be taken care of by my neighbor. Still no big deal, right? Well, a little bit because he and I live alone and he really is a companion and my best friend. I missed him…a lot. Can’t tell you how many times he was on my mind during those 36 hours. The first thing I did when I pulled in the driveway was to rush to the from door and let him out and told him how much I missed him.
This week, May 7-13 is Pet Appreciation Week. Appreciating our pets is something that is easy to do. Missing them when we are away from them, petting them, taking them for walks…all easy things. Do you give your pet good food and clean water? Another way to appreciate them. How about something a little harder, but, just as important – do you take them to the vet at least annually for a checkup? Keep their teeth cleaned regularly?
Yes, these are all ways to show appreciation and just as important as hugs and petting. They are ALL important to keep your pet safe and healthy and happy. Whether they are a dog, cat, gerbil, or turtle, they need love and care.
Show them care during Pet Appreciation Week, give them your love in all forms.
